St. Peter’s is operated by the Christian Brothers of St. John Baptist de La Salle, a worldwide Religious Order of 14,000 men with a history of 300 years of teaching experience. St. Peter’s is a part of a system of 17 schools operated by the Christian Bothers in the NY/NJ area. <br> St. Peter’s is a non-profit New York State Regents accredited high school accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and schools. K-12<br> The United Nations International School (UNIS) was founded in 1947 by United Nations affiliated families. UNIS has a multi-national staff from 70 countries and over 1,450 students from 115 countries. The main language of instruction is English and all students study French or Spanish, beginning in the elementary school; Arabic, Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese and Russian are also taught beginning in the seventh grade; additional mother tongues may be studied after school.

Jamaica High School is also located near Thomas A. Edison Vocational and Technical High School. Edison is north of Jamaica High School, separated by 84th Avenue and the Jamaica High School cutting edge and state-of-the-art Track and Football Field. Hillcrest High School is another nearby high school. Hillcrest is located at 87th Avenue and Parsons Boulevard, right near Gateway High School for the Sciences

K-12. Trinity's mission, stated in carefully considered terms, is essentially to provide its students with a setting—intellectual, moral, and physical—in which they can pursue the elements of a liberal education. We understand the idea of liberal education in different ways, all of us, but I'm pretty sure we could agree on a small number of things that are necessary to it: reading and writing accurately and truthfully; being curious and critical-minded; opening our minds to the ideas of others; questioning authority; maintaining self-respect and respect for the other. It is an endless project. Its ideals are woven through the ideals of democracy. I've come to think that, beyond the ideal of learning for its own sake, for the love of it, a liberal education serves politics. The political question is something like, "What is one to do with one's power?" How Trinity goes about the business of a liberal education is our way of answering that question.

K-12<br> The Nightingale-Bamford School has provided a rigorous college preparatory education for girls and young women since 1920. Today there are approximately 530 students enrolled at Nightingale from grades K-12. Our commitment to a strong foundation in the traditional academic disciplines; the close feeling of community among students, their families and teachers in a small school setting; and the many opportunities our students have to develop confidence in their abilities and an understanding of themselves create the special quality of a Nightingale education.

Long noted as one of the best schools in the area, the magazine U.S. News and World Report named Farrell as one of the finest high schools in the United States. The independent study concluded that Farrell attained an extremely high level of distinction in every facet of school life. Further honors followed as the school was selected as one of only 16 to be named as New York City´s "Super Schools". 6-12<br> York Preparatory School is a fully accredited co-educational college preparatory day school located at 40 West 68th Street in the Lincoln Center area of New York City. One hundred per cent of the graduating class is accepted to college, with over 85% of students getting into their top two choices. Our goal is to help students achieve success while upholding academic excellence. The Honors and Jump Start programs ensure that all students are appropriately challenged and supported. Technology is integrated in every aspect of learning. York Prep offers a wide variety of sports and clubs and is a playing member of the ISAL and GISAL leagues in soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, tennis, golf, track and field, and cross country. Other sports include roller hockey, fencing, horseback riding, and swimming. York Prep is approved by the New York State Board of Regents and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

In 1984, Townsend Harris was reopened with a new location and student body but the same spirit and desires as before. Beginning with the first new class, a tradition of expressing this spirit is found in the pledge the Townsend Harris student makes during his or her first year, known as the Ephebic Oath. The present school has had, from its inception, this rich tradition supported by an active group of alumni. The alumni arrange internships for students, serve as advisors and mentors and raise funds for special projects.

Offering an inquiry-based college-preparatory program with technology and arts infused throughout the curriculum. In addition to taking the New York State English Language Arts Regents, students demonstrate their mastery of material each year by presenting independent projects to panels of teachers. All Beacon students perform one semester of community service.

N-12. Staten Island Academy is a coeducational college-preparatory day school educating students from age four through high school. The Academy was founded in 1884 and since that time it has stood as a beacon of educational excellence. <br> The school is the oldest private school on Staten Island and it is proud of its unique status as the only independent school in the borough. Our “home” is a beautiful 12-acre campus with outstanding facilities including a new fitness center, renovated library, athletics fields, state-of-the art technology, a gym, computer labs, science labs, tennis courts, and two outdoor swimming pools. <br> At the Academy we are committed to the education of the whole child through a rigorous academic program, innovative performing and visual arts programs, and a comprehensive althletics and health and wellness program.

St. Joseph Hill Academy is a K-12 Catholic school operated by the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Charity. It is located on a fourteen acre, park-like campus in the Arrochar section of Staten Island, New York. The elementary school provides co-education for grades K-8. The high school enrolls approximately 400 young women.

St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School is a private Catholic school which exists to afford young men and women the opportunity to come to appreciate that every person has been created by God in His image and likeness, was redeemed by Christ, and is destined to become one with God. <br> Here, education is the deliberate effort of the administration, faculty, and parents to assist our young people in the development of their spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic potential through instruction, discipline, and example. <br> Therefore, we offer an education rooted in Gospel values. We expect students to develop an awareness of and sensitivity to these values and for the basic principles of American democracy by practicing them in their lives. <br> Our ultimate goal is to help develop responsible persons who will use their virtues and talents in making the world a better place. In cooperation with the home, the church, and the state, we communicate knowledge, truth, and a sense of justice in order to give students the ability to exercise responsible choices in their lives.

Currently, we are building a high school addition. As a result of the steady high enrollment over the past decade, SJVA was pressed to develop a strategic campus facility plan that would renovate existing buildings and increase the amount of space in our high school. Specifically, several of the oldest buildings on campus are unable to meet the space and program needs of our faculty and students. In order to maintain programs and to expand other areas of the curriculum, SJVA proposed a $5 million renovation and construction project. This will primarily consolidate the high school's academic space into a central location by enlarging and renovating the existing high school facility. A three-story wing is being built and connected to the current two-story high school. All new classrooms will be provided with "T1" Internet access lines. The project broke ground in December 2004 and is anticipated to be completed by September 2005. Of this $5 million renovation and construction project, $1 million must be raised from a capital campaign. Because St. John Villa is a private Catholic school, we do not receive public funds or money from the Archdiocese for capital projects and therefore, must seek private donations to accomplish this greatly needed project.

K-12. The Spence School is an independent college-preparatory day school for girls in kindergarten through grade 12. Founded by Clara B. Spence in 1892, Spence is committed to maintaining high academic standards, promoting diversity and teaching the basic human values of honesty and concern for others. With approximately 600 students, Spence is a small supportive community where the contributions of every student are valued. Each student is challenged to reach her full potential in an atmosphere that fosters self-confidence and a spirit of cooperation.

N-12<br> The Rudolf Steiner School is part of a rapidly growing international community of schools that embraces Waldorf education. These schools share a common philosophy, a methodological approach, and a basic curriculum. The Waldorf schools are committed to academic excellence and offer their students a rigorous classical education in preparation for the most demanding colleges. Waldorf pedagogy nurtures healthy emotional development by conveying knowledge experientially as well as academically. The heart of the Waldorf philosophy is the belief that education is an artistic process.

An independent day school that provides a continuous coeducational program for boys and girls from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve. The school is located on two wooded campuses in the northwest corner of New York City.
